What does software for a moving company cost?

The price on a vendor’s homepage is rarely what ends up on the invoice. Here is what moving company software usually costs, how it is priced, which costs hide around the subscription, and how Movea is put together to keep the bill low and predictable.

In short

  • Always count the whole team: the office and the crew in the van. That is where the price of many systems grows.
  • Ask about setup, modules, app add-ons, integrations and lock-in before you compare monthly prices.
  • Movea costs €17 per user per month for the first 15 users and €13 after that. The app and integration with e-conomic and Dinero are included.

What are you actually paying for?

Most software for moving companies is sold as a subscription. But a subscription can be put together in several ways, and it is the model — not the number on the homepage — that decides what you end up paying.

  • Per user. You pay for every person who logs in. It is the easiest to follow, as long as office and crew cost the same.
  • Per office user plus a crew add-on. The office has one kind of licence and the crew another — or the app is an extra.
  • Per vehicle or per crew. The price follows the fleet instead of the people. It looks cheap until you add a van for peak season.
  • Fixed package. One price up to a certain number of users or jobs — and a jump when you hit the ceiling.

None of these models is wrong in itself. But you can only compare them if you convert them into the same thing: what does it cost per month for your company, with your office, your crews and your vans.

The costs that aren’t on the homepage

When a system turns out more expensive than expected, the monthly price is rarely the problem. It is everything around it. Ask about these before you sign:

  1. 01Setup. Does it cost anything to get set up, move your data over or be trained?
  2. 02Modules. Are invoicing, routes, fleet and time tracking included — or extras?
  3. 03The crew app. Is it included, or does every person in the van cost extra?
  4. 04Accounting. Do you pay extra to get invoices into your accounting software?
  5. 05Lock-in. Are you tied in for 12 or 24 months, and what does it cost to leave?
  6. 06The season. What happens to the price when you take on people for the summer — and when they leave again?

The answers are often perfectly fine. The point is to know them before you compare, so you don’t hold a monthly price up against an annual one.

How to work out the real monthly price

Start from a normal month in peak season, not a quiet January. Count everyone who will use the system: the owner, the dispatcher, the bookkeeper and every person in the vans. Add the fixed add-ons, and spread any setup fee over a year.

Hold that up against what time costs. A dispatcher who spends every day ringing round the crews, moving jobs around a spreadsheet and typing hours into an invoice again spends hours that cost money too — they just never appear on a bill.

What Movea costs

Movea has one price per user, and it is the same for the office and the crew: €17 per user per month for the first 15 users and €13 for every user after that. Everything in the system is included.

Movea’s monthly price for different company sizes
UsersPer monthAverage per user
5 users€85€17
10 users€170€17
20 users€320€16
30 users€450€15

Excl. VAT. Office and crew cost the same, and the app is included.

Each month you pay for the highest number of users you had during the month. If you take people on for the season, you pay for them while they are there — not longer. All the details are on the pricing page.

Why Movea can keep the price down

A low price is only interesting if it isn’t low because something is missing. Movea keeps the price down through how the system is built and sold — not by cutting features:

  • Only for moving companies. We don’t build a general tool for every trade. Everything in the system is made for one kind of company, so there are no modules to sell you.
  • Nothing to install. Movea runs in the browser. The demo takes 20 minutes online, and we set up your own prices, crews and vans along the way.
  • The app is included in the user price. The crew are not an extra licence.
  • Integration with e-conomic and Dinero is included. Invoices go to your accounting with no add-on.
  • No lock-in. We have to earn next month — every month.

It also means you can work out the price yourself without calling a salesperson: number of users times the user price. That is the whole sum. To see what else a system should do, read the guide to choosing moving company software.

Questions, answered briefly.

What does software for a moving company cost?

It depends on the pricing model. Systems are priced per user, per vehicle or as a package, often with add-ons for the app, modules or integrations. So work out the total monthly price for your own company. With Movea it costs €17 per user per month for the first 15 users and €13 after that, with everything included.

Does the crew app cost extra with Movea?

No. Office and crew have the same user price, and the app is included in it.

Is there a lock-in period?

No. There is no lock-in and nothing to install. Setup happens in the demo, where we set up your prices, crews and vans.

How do you count users when we have seasonal staff?

Each month you pay for the highest number of users you had during the month. If you remove a seasonal worker, they don’t count in the following months.
